PFWorks, Inc. is a nonprofit working toward real support for teens and young adults ages 16 to 24 as they move through some of life’s hardest transitions.
Our Story
PFWorks was founded in 2018 with an idea and a strong desire to help, but no funding, no resources, and no clear plan. Since then, we’ve had hits and misses. Our first approach was to build the full infrastructure before serving anyone, and it never came together. That taught us something important: waiting until everything is perfect means nobody gets helped. So we’re starting smaller, and starting now.
What We’re Doing Now
Our first goal is to gather trusted resources for young people facing hard situations, so someone in a tough spot can find real help, fast. Programs will come later, once we’ve listened long enough to build the right ones.
Who We Want to Reach
Young people ages 16 to 24 dealing with things like homelessness, exploitation, substance use, mental health struggles, questions of identity, and the jump into adulthood without a safety net. We also want to reach the adults who care about them and want to help in ways that actually work.
What We Believe
- Young people closest to a challenge often know the most about what would help.
- Everyone deserves safety, dignity, and a place to be heard.

How We Work
We build in the open, so you can see what’s working and what isn’t. We never share a young person’s story without their permission. And at least once a year, we share exactly how donations were used.
Founded by R.L. Canty
R.L. Canty started PFWorks for three reasons: to give back, to offer real solutions for teens and young adults facing hard transitions, and to build a community where young people don’t have to figure everything out alone. That’s still the reason the work continues today. PFWorks has also been funded in part through his work at The Canty Effect, where he writes about building from zero, in public.
